The first sin

Most people believe the first sin was when Eve ate the forbidden fruit.  But, if you study scripture carefully and listen to the Holy Spirit teach you what he wants you to see in scripture, you will actually see, that Adam sinned first.

Adam turned his legal dominion, which God had given him over the earth, to God's enemy, Satan.  When someone turns on their country and gives secret information about their country to an opposing country, this is called treason.  So, we will call Adam's sin treason.    Adams sin was done in the light in absolute knowledge of God's words, right from God himself.  Adam knew the steps to the crime that Eve was committing and he didn't stop her.  He was right there with Eve, as she spoke with the serpent.  1 Timothy 2:13-14 tells us that Adam was formed first, then Eve and that Adam was not deceived, but Eve fell into transgression.  Why would Adam not stop her?  I believe he chose Eve and what Eve thought and believed about the situation, over what God knew and said.  That my friends was the first sin.  Choosing someone or something other than God.  That is why the first commandment is to love the Lord your God with all you heart, all  your soul and all your strength, and all you mind, and have no other gods before him.  Adam had in essence made Eve his god by choosing her and his love for her over God and his love for God.    It is still the same today.  People are still choosing someone or something else over God.  But, God is still love, and he still pursues us with the hope that someday, we will know what real love is, and choose him.

The difference today, is that God has sent someone in our place to make up for our mistakes and sins.  Jesus was sent from God, became flesh and he picked God over everything else this world had to offer.  He did this to get back dominion from Satan, to give man back his rightful place in God's family, ruling over God's creation.  Because you and I choose wrong, we can look to Jesus, to come pay our debt of choosing wrong and follow him in to choosing right.

I explain it like this,  if you choose not to wash or shower, then you will begin to stink.  But, you say you didn't choose to stink, it just happened, and it happened because you didn't choose the good, to wash.  If you turn off the light, you may not choose darkness, but it happens.  This is what happened in the garden with Adam and Eve and this is what happens to people who do not choose Jesus.
Some people say, well, I don't like religion and I don't like church, so I choose not to do anything.  Well, in not choosing Jesus, who is life and light, you are choosing death and darkness.  It really is simple, we just make out to be complicated.  As for me and my house, we choose Jesus and obedience to him....therefore we choose life and we get the blessing and peace.
